How to join the Great Hakka

For both runners and spectators we offer standard packages, which you will find introduced in detail below – including optional travel extensions. If you need special individual arrangements, please get in touch with us. Kindly note that the registration deadline for any arrangement is October 25, 2016. See you in Nanjing County!

The basic race package 2016 includes bus transfer from Xiamen City to the race area in Nanjing County on Friday (Nov 25), as well as return bus transfer to Xiamen City on Sunday (Nov 27).

In Nanjing County, it provides accommodation on Friday (Nov 25) and Saturday (Nov 26 – Race day) inclusive of breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, as well as your personal starting slot in the race.

Arrangements on Saturday include scheduled bus transfers between your hotel/hostel and the starting/finishing area, a lunch package at the finishing area, as well as dinner and participation in the evening celebration.

The package further includes a short sightseeing tour on Sunday (Nov 27) morning that allows you to experience the Hakka roundhouses and the local scenery, before transferring back to Xiamen.

As in 2015, starting slots for the 2016 edition will be limited in order to guarantee a great running experience. Registrations open on March 1, 2016.

INTERNATIONAL PACKAGE

To overseas participants, we offer the race package as described above, starting at USD 358 per person, based on two nights accommodation in twin-rooms in the best local 3-star hotel. Single accommodation can be arranged for a supplement of USD 68 per person.

DOMESTIC PACKAGE (Hotel)

To domestic Chinese (including Hongkong, Taiwan and Macau) and expat participants, we offer the race package as described above, starting at CNY 1880 per person, based on two nights accommodation in twin-rooms in the best local 3-star hotel. Single accommodation can be arranged for a supplement of CNY 360 per person.

DOMESTIC PACKAGE (Hoste)

To domestic Chinese (including Hongkong, Taiwan and Macau) and expat participants, we alternatively offer the race package as described above, starting at CNY 1680 per person, based on two nights accommodation in twin-rooms in a local standard village hostel. Single accommodation can be arranged for a supplement of CNY 360 per person.

Great Hakka Marathon very much welcomes spectators coming to Nanjing County to join us in the event and support the runners. For your convenience, we provide a spectator package, which is based on the runners arrangements (see ‘Basic Race Package’), except that you can not participate in the race itself.

Just like the race package, a spectator package for the Great Hakka Marathon will provide bus transfer from Xiamen City to the race area in Nanjing County on Friday (Nov 25), as well as return bus transfer to Xiamen City on Sunday (Nov 27).

In Nanjing County, it provides accommodation on Friday (Nov 25) and Saturday (Nov 27 – race day) inclusive of breakfast on Saturday and Sunday.

After the start of the race, a bus transfer from the starting area to the finishing area is provided, where spectators can cheer for the runners, await ‘their runner’, refresh with food and drink, and explore the romantic village individually.

The package further includes a short sightseeing tour on Sunday morning that allows you to experience the Hakka roundhouses and the local scenery, before transferring back to Xiamen.

Participation starts at RMB 1000 per person for the package described above, based on two nights accommodation in twin-rooms. Single accommodation can be arranged for a supplement of RMB 350 per person.

Children are most welcome, special rates depend on age. Please contact us for your individual quotation.

Add ons

For participants who would like to add travel experiences after or before the race in Nanjing county, we offer add-ons to the basic race package:

Shanghai and Suzhou

This extension is based on departure from Xiamen and takes you to the cities of Shanghai and Suzhou, including transfers, accommodation and sightseeing. Meals are not included unless mentioned. Please find details and itinerary below.

Day 01: Transfer to Xiamen airport, followed by flight from Xiamen to Shanghai. After arrival, transfer to Suzhou and check-in at a 4-star hotel in central location. Suzhou is a city with over 2000 years of history, which Marco Polo called ‘the Venice of the East’.

Day 02: Hotel breakfast. Visit of the famous ‘Master of the Nets Garden’ with its unique landscape and architecture, a UNESCO world heritage site recognised as one of China’s finest gardens. Afterwards, visit of the Panmen Scenic area with ancient sites as the Grand Canal, the Old city gate and unique pagodas. After that, enjoy a rickshaw-ride through the romantic old lanes. Lunch is included.

Day 03: Hotel breakfast. Excursion to Tongli, a famous historic water town, where walking along the century-old lanes and canals while seem like a trip back in time. Visit of the famous ‘Gardens of Meditation’. In the afternoon you will embark on a train ride to Shanghai, followed by pick-up and transfer from the railway station to a 4-star hotel in central location. Shanghai is the largest metropolis in China and is famed as ‘Paris of the Orient’. Lunch is included.

Day 04: Hotel breakfast. Sightseeing starts at the Bund, the famous waterfront and symbol of Shanghai, with its unique contrast of historic colonial-style buildings on one side and the hyper-modern skyscrapers of Pudong on the other side of the river. Embark on a cruise tour on the river, cross to Pudong over Nanpu Bridge, and get up on Jinmao Tower – one of the highest buildings in the world – to enjoy a bird’s eye view of the city panorama. After lunch, enjoy sightseeing at Yuyuan Bazar, the Shanghai Museum and famous Nanjing Road. Transfer back to hotel. Lunch is included.

Day 05: Hotel breakfast. Time for your individual programme and discoveries. No meals included.

Day 06: Hotel breakfast. Transfer to the airport. End of Service.

Prices for this extension start at USD 877 per person including all airfares, transfers, guided tours, admissions, hotel accommodation including breakfasts (half a twin), as well as all mentioned meals. Single-room supplement is USD 248 per person. The minimum number of participants required for this package is 2 persons.

Optionals: In Shanghai, an optional evening acrobatics show is available for USD 35 per person.

All prices are per person based on double occupancy with a minimum of two persons traveling together. Exchange rate is based on 1 USD = CNY 6.15, and we reserve the right to adjust US Dollar prices if 1 USD drops below CNY 6.0. Booking deadline is October 20, 2015. Package price excludes international airfare, visa cost and personal expenditures. Please note that all foreign participants must bring their passport with a valid visa.

Guilin and Hongkong

This extension is based on departure from Xiamen and takes you to the cities of Guilin and Hongkong, including transfers, accommodation and sightseeing. Meals are not included unless mentioned. Please find details and itinerary below.

Day 01: Transfer to Xiamen airport, followed by flight from Xiamen to Guilin. After arrival, transfer to a downtown 4-star hotel in Yangshuo. An old Chinese saying goes: ‘Guilin’s scenery is the most beautiful in the world, but Yangshuo’s scenery is even more superior to Guilin’. The first day offers time for individual programmes and discoveries, for example an evening walk along West Street with its many shops, restaurants and bars. No meals included.

Day 02: Hotel breakfast. River Cruise tour along crystal clear Li River, enjoying the famous and unique landscape. Individual afternoon and evening programme after arrival to Yangshuo. Optional evening programmes available. Lunch is included.

Day 03: Hotel breakfast. Guided bicycle tour on country roads and local villages. Climb up famous Moon Hill to enjoy the wonderful country scenery. Individual evening programme with optional offers available. Lunch is included.

Day 04: Hotel breakfast. Individual programme. Afternoon transfer to airport, flight to Hongkong. After arrival in Hongkong, coach transfer to a centrally located 4 star hotel.

Day 05: Hotel breakfast. Individual programme. Coach transfer to airport. End of service.

Prices for this extension start at USD 835 per person including all airfares, transfers, guided tours, admissions, hotel accommodation with breakfasts (half a twin), as well as mentioned meals. Single-room supplement is USD 198 per person. Minimum number of participants required for this package is 2 persons.

Optionals: In Yangshuo, two optional evening programmes are available: You can watch Cormoran Fishing at night for USD 22 per person, or the ‘Sister Liu’ light show for USD 45 per person.

Optionals: Seat-in-coach half-day city-tour in Hongkong (Victoria Peak, Aberdeen Fishing village, Stanley Market). USD 40 per person available upon request.
