Make a difference
Our first priority is of course to organize an attractive, professional and convenient race and marathon event for our participants …which means you. Having said that, we also care very much about the local communities where our races are held, and aim to contribute to their livelihood and to the local and regional development, creating income and new opportunities for the locals.
Doesn’t it feel good to know that while you relish your run amidst the beautiful scenery and unique architecture, and you enjoy the hospitality of the local people, you can also give something back with literally every step you make?
Traditional Hakka inhabited areas in Fujian province are mainly located in the mountains, where the poor infrastructure and limited communication with the outside world makes people’s lives hard and challenging. Amongst other problems, elementary education nowadays is still at a stunning backward stage.
The Great Hakka Marathon therefore makes a clear committment to supporting the rural elementary education. Each year a part of the income generated from the race organization will be donated to a primary school in the area and published accordingly, so that our participations can join us in our efforts and see how they make a difference.
